TMS (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation)

TMS is a safe, proven, and practical treatment for depression.

Most people with depression respond well to medication therapy, and some may compliment their medication with psychotherapy sessions. However, if you have Treatment Resistant Depression, you’ve tried multiple medication, psychotherapy, and still have endured quality of life degrading side effects. You’ve tried multiple medications, endured quality of life-degrading side effects to little or no avail.

Enter Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation, commonly known as TMS. This groundbreaking and innovative therapy uses magnetic pulses to depolarize neurons which enhances transmission, receptivity, and overall function.

TMS: An alternative to treating depression.

Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) is a noninvasive form of depression treatment based on this research. Approved by the Food and Drug Administration in 2008, TMS creates a localized magnetic field that depolarizes neurons in the left prefrontal cortex. This reactivates parts of the brain subdued by depression, allowing the prefrontal cortex to resume its role in regulating other parts of brain affected by the condition. TMS is used for cases of depression that don’t respond to treatment with antidepressant drugs or cognitive behavioral therapy.

What to expect during treatment?

  • Treatment sessions are conducted in your doctor’s office
  • You can return to normal activities right away
  • You are awake during treatment
  • There are no negative effects on memory or sleep
  • It’s covered by most health insurance plans, including Medicare and Tricare

What is TMS used for?

Thus far in the United States, transcranial magnetic stimulation therapy has only been approved for the treatment of major depressive disorder. While depression is a treatable condition, TMS is typically used when standard treatments such as therapy, medication, and self-help techniques have proved ineffective—or, in the case of medication, the side effects are too severe. In many European countries, however, TMS is approved for a multitude of other common conditions including:

  • Anxiety disorders
  • Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
  • Stroke rehabilitation
  • Schizophrenia
  • Parkinson’s disease
  • Alzheimer’s disease
  • Chronic pain
  • Nicotine addiction
  • OCD

TMS has even shown promise in off-label treatment of conditions such as tinnitus, fibromyalgia, Tourette syndrome, autism spectrum disorder, and multiple sclerosis.

Faraday Health has a 70.3% Remission from Depression

Faraday Health Remission from Depression Graph
  • TMS is FDA approved for treatment-resistant depression, providing a more effective treatment option for patients with complex health problems. It is covered by most insurance carriers for the treatment of Major Depressive Disorder.

  • Within the course of TMS treatment approximately 75.5% of our patients experience greater than 50% improvement with their depressive symptoms.

  • Since 2019, approximately 70.3% of our patients have reported reaching remission throughout the course of TMS treatment.

  • The Faraday staff of treatment coordinators, physicians, and patient advocates know that a basic, one-size-fits-all approach doesn’t meet patient needs. Unlike other TMS therapy providers, our protocols are customized for each patient.

With over 250,000 treatments performed and an over 70% positive response rate, our FDA-approved treatment has a track record of reconnecting patients with their lives.
